Approach
Billing

CKPT rejects the notion that the only method of billing for services is to accumulate billable hours, tack on all incidental expenses, and send the client an invoice. Our efficient operating model, flexibility, and disdain for the traditional billable-hour-by-the-bushel mentality allows us to work directly with our clients to obtain a billing arrangement that is fair and creative when necessary. With programs such as Invested Billing, which provides a fee schedule based on the achievement of certain client objectives, and Virtual General Counsel, a program that provides for monthly retainers for general business advice, CKPT can adapt to individual needs and provide creative solutions that are predictable and advantageous to our clients.

Another fundamental aspect of our billing philosophy is that we do not pass general overhead charges through to our clients. Our clients do not pay for typical long-distance telephone calls, basic copying charges, standard postage, or routine facsimile charges. We develop our billing rates and billing arrangements based on an overall business model, and we do not believe that clients should be taxed for every expense associated with practicing law.
